Knee Pain

Whether you play sport socially or professionally, walk the dog or enjoy the occasional long bike ride....knees are essential for getting around.

Knees injuries are more commonly from overuse or overloading during activities such as running, cycling, jumping and weight training. They can be the result of training methods, poor technique, footwear, biomechanical or structural problems, and if left untreated can progressively get worse. Early assessment and treatment may result in a quicker recovery and less pain.

Acute injuries are less common but are very painful and can be the result of an awkward fall, collision or twist of the knee. Ligament sprains and tears or cartilage tears require immediate treatment and rehabilitation. If damage is severe, your physiotherapist will suggest you consult an orthopaedic surgeon.
